A place to bathe slowly and enjoy the view. Working collaboratively with this newly married couple, Minneapolis interior designer, Mallory Archer created a bathroom design that works for him and her. A large horizontal screen separates the marble bathtub from the vanities and dressing area. The rectangular shape is repeated in a “picture” window, through which a bather can look out onto a private atrium.
The screen and window provide privacy with an insert by Lumicor filled with “Botanical Beach Grass” in a soft matte finish.
Exotic walnut and earthy mahogany The larger area houses the bath and dual vanities. Here, the floor is sheathed in exotic Brazilian walnut. Cabinetry is mahogany, stained dark to complement the flooring and in a style informed by the antique Shinto cabinet.
Outside the separate shower area, a lovely Shinto chest provides both beauty and storage.
Warm tones of the Golden Siena Patika marble tub and shower are accented by the countertops of polished Pistachio Onyx, complementing the matte finishes of other materials in the Minneapolis bathroom design.
Artful objects and unconventional hardware An antique Chinese bench invites sitting and the presentation of a favorite piece of sculpture. Like the many marriages that are represented in this room, hardware comes in two forms. The cabinet hardware references antique Asian bronze while the fixtures are more modern in satin nickel.
